Procrastinate

Procrastinate. To postpone or delay doing something unnecessarily.

Procrastination is when you put off for another day or time something you have to do and could do now. Like a phone call or an application form.

It's a powerful force that stops us doing things, especially when we are in bed, in an armchair or at a desk.

It is the reason for half the cups of tea and coffee that people drink and the TV they watch.

Truly lazy people are not procrastinators - they don't put off doing things, they never plan to do them in the first place.

In business there is a great excuse for procrastination, "just-in-time management". It means things are done at the last minute to reduce costs.

Surely a little procrastination is time well-spent, contemplating the task to be done. But be careful, too much will get you into trouble!

Put off. To postpone.
Get into trouble. Get into difficulty or danger.

  2. I am procrastinating by checking out your blog instead of getting on with my translation. Or am I just having a little break?

Galesa: I think you were just having a well-earned break.
